The shortage of disposable type PPE, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has placed a tremendous challenge to fire departments across the Country.
Scott Fire Department applied (through AFG) to obtain an Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Level 3-compliant reusable isolation coverall and reusable full-face
respirator for each of our members, to keep personnel safe while responding during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Friday July 17, 2020, Scott Fire Department was notified that we were 1 of 4 Louisiana Departments to be awarded funding from FEMA to obtain PPE to respond to current and future pandemics.
Nearly $10,000 of federal funds will be spent to fit each member with reusable isolation coverall
and reusable full-face respirator, which will keep firefighters and civilians safe, while limiting the
transmission of the virus.
Please feel free to contact me if I can assist with this or any other matter.
