How To Join Scott VFD

Steps To Join:
1. Attend fire dept. meetings, held every Monday at 6:30PM at Station One.
2. Apply for membership. A background check will be performed.
3. Upon membership acceptance, a new firefighter will be issued gear and will start probationary period. For six months, a probationary firefighter will be evaluated and trained. After the probationary period, a firefighter will be voted in by the membership, and will attain full membership rights.

Membership Eligibility:
1. Must be 18 years of age.
2. Should live in or near the city of Scott, LA.

Types of Membership:
Members may choose to either do one type of membership or both.
Firefighter - Fights structure and vehicle fires, responds to car wrecks, investigates hazardous situations.
Emergency Medical First Responder - Gives first aid to citizens having breathing problems, heart trouble, chest pains, choking, drownings, or injured in car wrecks.

Jr. Firefighter - will be provided with training to become active responders and responsible members and leaders of the Scott Fire Department. 

Member Expectations:
Scott VFD is a volunteer run organization supported by members of the community who choose to aid others in time of need. In order to provide a professional level of service to the community, however, a certain level of commitment is asked of members. This insures that citizens we serve receive competent care in times of emergency. Volunteers are asked to:
1. Respond to at least 10% of calls received per month.
2. Participate in Monday meetings and trainings at least every other week.
3. Contact their supervisor if a problem arises making the previous two commitments so that arrangements can be made.
