Structure Fire
Scott, LA — 5/12/25 — On the morning of May 12, 2025, at approximately 8:21 AM, the Scott Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 2300 block of Mills Street. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke emitting from the structure Firefighters made entry into the home, quickly locating a fire in a bedroom, which extended into the kitchen. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, limiting further damage.
The home sustained significant fire damage to the bedroom and part of the kitchen, with heat and smoke damage throughout the residence. Sadly, the family dog perished in the fire. The cause was determined to be an electrical malfunction in the bedroom.
Thankfully, no occupants were home at the time and no firefighter injuries were reported. Units from Carencro and Duson Fire Departments responded to provide assistance.
