Scott, LA-10/6/25 – On Saturday, October 7, 2025, the Scott Fire Department responded to a medical emergency. Upon arrival, it was determined that the patient may have been suffering a cerebrovascular accident (CVA), more commonly known as a stroke. Firefighters and medics quickly provided treatment and stabilized the patient, who was then transported to a local hospital for advanced care.

Several days later, Mrs. Tyra Roger sent a heartfelt email thanking the firefighters and medics for “saving her husband.” On Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Mrs. Roger will address the City Council to publicly recognize the actions of the first responders involved in her husband’s care.

I have invited everyone in the “chain of survival”, from 911 dispatchers to emergency responders to attend, so that Mrs. Roger can personally thank them. Mr. Roger, who is currently in physical therapy and recovering, plans to attend if his condition allows.

The Scott Fire Department takes great pride in working alongside community partners such as Acadian Ambulance to keep our citizens safe. Through these partnerships, our department remains committed to making Scott a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.

We hope you can send a representative to this special recognition.
