Barn Fire

Scott, LA-3/3/26- On Monday, March 2, 2026, at approximately 10:06 p.m., the Scott Fire Department responded to a reported barn fire in the 1200 block of South Fieldspan Road.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a metal barn fully engulfed in flames, with the fire threatening two nearby homes. Initial crews immediately initiated defensive fire suppression operations to protect the neighboring structures.

Two engines were deployed to combat the blaze and two 3,000-gallon water tanker trucks were utilized to shuttle water from nearby hydrants to maintain an adequate water supply. After approximately 10 minutes, crews successfully brought the fire under control.

Investigators determined the fire was caused by ordinary combustibles placed too close to a heat source. The barn sustained extensive damage and was deemed a total loss. Tragically, 25 rabbits and 18 chickens perished in the fire.

No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the incident.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Duson Fire Department and the Judice Fire Department.
