Scott Heavy Rescue

Scott, LA-1/28/26- On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at approximately 12:28 PM, the Scott Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Lormand Road to assist with a report of a person trapped beneath a piece of heavy machinery.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a 57-year-old male trapped underneath an overturned mini excavator. Firefighters immediately deployed hydraulic rescue equipment to lift the approximately 10,000-pound machine. Once the equipment was stabilized and lifted, responders safely removed the individual and provided on-scene medical care.

After being stabilized, the patient was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An initial investigation determined that the incident occurred while the individual was backing the excavator off a trailer. A ramp reportedly slipped, causing the machine to overturn and trap the operator beneath it.
