Major Accident
Scott, LA-3/21/26- On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:58 a.m., the Scott Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle accident with rescue in the 100 block of Notre Dame.
Upon arrival, fire crews discovered a vehicle had crashed into a residence. During the initial size-up, personnel determined that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Additionally, a second male occupant inside the home was in bed at the time of the crash and became pinned beneath the vehicle against a wall, sustaining severe injuries.
Due to the complexity and severity of the incident, Lafayette Squad—specialists in technical rescue—was requested to assist. Crews immediately initiated medical assessments while simultaneously developing a coordinated rescue plan to extricate both victims as quickly and safely as possible.
Airbags were deployed to lift the vehicle off the victim inside the residence, and a winch was then used to pull the vehicle away, allowing for patient removal. The victim inside the home was successfully extricated and transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver was subsequently extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary information indicates the driver may have experienced a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike the residence.
Due to the structural and utility damage sustained, all utilities to the home were disconnected.
