FIRE CHIEF CHAD SONNIER

Chief Chad P. Sonnier began his fire service career in 1989 with the Scott Fire Department. As a member of SFD, he worked his way through the ranks and was appointed to Fire Chief in December of 2003.

Chief Sonnier realizes it is his responsibility to provide the leadership, which is associated with taking SFD into the future, in addition to drawing up the map and building the road to achieve the end result of success; therefore, throughout his career, he has obtained several certifications through Louisiana State University, National Fire Academy, FEMA and other notable associations/agencies.

Technology and enhanced equipment has dramatically improved the delivery of emergency services to the citizens firefighters protect; however, Chief Sonnier is a firm believer that it is the actions of his members, which make the department so successful. Chief Sonnier feels very fortunate to live in the City of Scott and realizes a great sense of professional and personal satisfaction in being able to make decisions that affect the level of service provided to his own family and community. He and his wife, Kelly, have five children, Ollivia, Cullen, Brittni, Brennan and Elizabeth.
