Residential Fire

Scott, LA-7/14/26- On Monday, July 13, 2026, at approximately 10:18 p.m., the Scott Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 100 block of Earline Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy fire conditions in the attic, extending into the second story of the residence. Crews quickly deployed a handline and initiated an interior fire attack while additional firefighters conducted a primary search to ensure no occupants remained inside the home.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. Firefighters confirmed the residence was unoccupied.

Following an investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental in nature. Investigators have determined the fire was accidental and was caused by workers soldering ("sweating") copper pipes earlier in the day during renovation work. Heat from the soldering process ignited concealed combustible materials, which continued to smolder unnoticed for several hours before ultimately resulting in the structure fire.

The home received extensive fire damage.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The Scott Fire Department was assisted on scene by Lafayette, Duson and Judice Fire Departments.
