While investigating the residential fire in the 500 block of Pecan Grove Road on Sunday (10/11/20), officials quickly came to the conclusion it was intentionally set.

During the investigation, investigators learned that a homeless couple was residing in the unoccupied, abandoned home. After reviewing the evidence at and away from the scene, the male subject residing at the residence was questioned. Once seeing the evidence and speaking with investigators, he admitted to purposely lighting the fire on Tuesday (10/20/20). The information is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office so that the appropriate charges can be filed. Scott Fire Department would like to thank the Lafayette Fire Department investigators for their hard work, dedication and relentless efforts to keeping our community safe.

*The name of the suspect is being withheld till formal charges are accepted.

Please feel free to contact me if I can assist with this or any other matter.
