North Ambassador Caffery Parkway at the Westport Linen Services facility, located next to the Epic
Entertainment building.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed a significant amount of smoke emitting from the building.
Firefighters made entry into the building and located a fire in the area where linens are dried, which was
quickly brought under control.
An investigation of the incident determined that it was accidental in nature.
Workers placed laundered linens into a large bin earlier in the evening. The heat generated from the
linens ignited the contents of the bin. The fire quickly spread to two nearby bins, activating the sprinkler
system.
The building sustained a small amount of heat and smoke damage as a result of the fire. However,
Westport Linen Services facility and Epic Entertainment both sustained moderate water damage due to
the sprinkle activation.
No firefighters or workers were injured during the incident.
Firefighters from Carenro, Duson and Lafayette responded to assist with extinguishment.
Please feel free to contact me if I can assist with this or any other matter.
